Testing the Weaved Mesh with a Touch Board in Touch Designer

This experiment explored the conductivity and responsiveness of a woven wire mesh in TouchDesigner, using a Touch Board to detect and interpret interactions. By integrating conductive materials into a structured weave, the project tested how different weaving densities and contact points influenced signal strength and responsiveness.

The steps

I connected a previously woven and melted wire mesh to a Bare Touch Board to examine it responsiveness. The Touch Board was used to register touch inputs, and through learning and studiuje TouchDesigner tutorials I was able to map the signals visually. Variations in pressure, contact area, and mesh structure were tested to analyse how each influenced the real time digital response.

Reflection and takeaways

The experiment revealed that denser weaves were to responsive to detect single input, while looser structures produced more satisfying results. By connecting double insulated wires I was able to gain more reliable conductivity. Moving forward, with all my findings and learned knowledge I am ready to more to creating me final product.
